ASNZ CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) SCHEME

As a Member or Executive Member of the ASNZ, you are required by the ASNZ Constitution to sustain and expand your professional knowledge and capabilities. CPD submissions are required for Members and Executive Members only – not for Students, Affiliates and Fellows of the Society.

CPD aims to maintain and broaden Members’ and Executive Members’ knowledge and skills, and develop the necessary qualities for the application of professional duties throughout a Member’s or Executive Member’s working life.

SCHEME DETAILS

Members and Executive Members are obliged to submit biennial records (i.e. once every two years) to maintain their grade of membership. If a Member or Executive Member does not meet the CPD requirements of the Member grade, their grade will be changed to Affiliate. If an Executive Member does not meet the CPD requirements for the Executive Member grade, but meets the requirements of the Member grade, their grade will be changed to Member. They can re-apply for Membership or Executive Membership the following year after making valid CPD submissions. The CPD points required per cycle are:

  • Member: 50 points
  • Executive Member: 75 points

CPD submissions are due on 15th July every two years from a Member or Executive Member’s year of joining (refer to your Membership Certificate / Membership Number), but can be submitted from 1 July. ASNZ will respond to individuals by 1 August only if there are issues with their submission.

The ASNZ CPD scheme is based on achieving goals, and points are awarded for completing certain activities related to the field of acoustics. Relevant activities include attending conferences, seminars or courses, study, organising and attending ASNZ activities and giving presentations. General professional development activities not related to acoustics may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the ASNZ Council, to a maximum of 10 points per submission cycle.

The ASNZ will keep a record of attendance for ASNZ conferences and seminars. The ASNZ Constitution applies.
